Solution Architecture
for Biotech & Life Sciences

End-to-end design of your commercial systems and data, so your implementation partners build to one architecture.

Your Partners Are Ready to Build. Who Owns the Design?

You have an IT leader and implementation partners lined up: a CRM vendor, a data platform partner, an MLR team, an omnichannel agency. Each one designs its own piece. Nobody owns how the pieces fit together, which system is the record for HCPs, accounts, and consent, or how data moves from aggregators into the field.
I own the end-to-end design. Your partners build to one architecture, and your team owns it after go-live.
This is not a vendor's architect designing around their own platform. It is an independent design from a former Global Commercial CIO at Allergan and SVP at IQVIA, with 25 years of commercial IT experience across 15+ biotech launches.

What a Solution Architecture Engagement Delivers

The output is a design your team and your partners can build from, not a slide deck. Every engagement produces documented decisions, diagrams, and specifications that hold up through vendor changes and staff turnover.

Target-State Architecture

The end-state map of your commercial stack: CRM, MLR, omnichannel, Market Access, the data warehouse, MDM, and analytics, and how each one connects.

System of Record Decisions

Which platform owns HCPs, HCOs, accounts, products, consent, and interactions, and how changes flow to every other system.

Integration Design

Integration patterns, interfaces, frequencies, and error handling between CRM, MDM, the data warehouse, and third-party sources.

Data Architecture

Data models, master data rules, and the flows from aggregators, specialty pharmacy, and hub partners into the warehouse and Power BI.

Independent Platform Choices

Evaluation of platforms and partners against your requirements, budget, and launch timeline, from someone who is not selling either one.

Specifications & Design Authority

Specifications your implementation partners build from, plus design reviews during the build so what ships matches what was designed.

Architectures We Design

Solution Architecture covers the commercial systems and data biotech companies need to launch and scale:

CRM Platform & Migration

Veeva CRM, Vault CRM, or Salesforce: target design, data migration approach, and integrations to MDM, MLR, and the data warehouse.

Commercial Data Environment

Snowflake, Azure, or SQL Server warehouse design with MDM, data marts, and the reporting layer for Power BI.

Aggregator & Partner Data

Onboarding IQVIA, Symphony Health, Veeva Compass, Komodo, Integrichain, specialty pharmacy, and hub data, from data model to refresh schedule.

MLR & Omnichannel

PromoMat and MLR review connected to CRM, approved email, websites, and omnichannel so content moves compliantly from approval to the field.

Market Access & Patient Services

Payer, contract, and patient services data architecture that connects access programs to commercial reporting.

Launch Architecture

The full commercial architecture for a first U.S. launch, designed and sequenced against the PDUFA date.

How We Work With Your Team

Solution Architecture can run on its own or inside a Fractional CIO or Program Manager engagement. In a typical Solution Architecture engagement:

Your IT leader keeps ownership of the stack and the final decisions.

Tailwinds Advisory leads the design work with your team and partners: workshops, decisions, documentation, and design reviews.

When the design is done, your team owns it. Many clients then bring Tailwinds Advisory in as Program Manager to lead delivery against it.

When to Choose Solution Architecture vs. Program Management

If you need someone to decide how your commercial systems and data should fit together before the build starts, that is Solution Architecture. If the design is settled and you need someone to own delivery, timeline, budget, and vendors, that is Program Management. If you have no IT leader at all, start with a Fractional CIO. Many clients combine Solution Architecture and Program Management on the same program.
